Racetrack Oval Rose Dome

Thursday, November 20th, 2014

At 4′ x 8′ our custom dome is the central feature in a grand foyer of an exquisite condo located in down town Toronto. Colourful roses wound on a trellis create a garden feeling, and a geometric pattern matching the parquetry of the hardwood floor below frames the dome. The home owner (who is also a designer) selected the lovely range of coral hues in the roses to coordinate with other interior elements. The entire effect is striking.

Putting the Pieces Together

Tuesday, March 11th, 2014

Constructing a dome is like building an enormous Tiffany lamp, the very same techniques are employed.

Above: The soft lead channel is shaped and fit around each piece of hand cut glass. Then a nail is tapped in to hold it in place as the pattern fills out along the curved form. Later all of the lead joints will be soldered, on each side of the curved panel.
