Monday, March 31st, 2014

This leaded glass barrel vault dome has a few surprises hidden in the lattice and vines, a couple hand painted birds.

In addition we made an oval leaded glass window to match, I will post it next week.

Putting the Pieces Together

Tuesday, March 11th, 2014

Constructing a dome is like building an enormous Tiffany lamp, the very same techniques are employed.

Above: The soft lead channel is shaped and fit around each piece of hand cut glass. Then a nail is tapped in to hold it in place as the pattern fills out along the curved form. Later all of the lead joints will be soldered, on each side of the curved panel.

Frank Lloyd Wright Inspires

4′ x 4′ Leaded Glass Window.

The window design is inspired from the work of Frank Lloyd Write, although where he would have used clear glass we have used clear textured glass to create privacy between two Toronto homes. The home this window has gone into was built in 1912 around the same time Taliesin was built. Below an image of Taliesin’s Interior featuring a leaded glass window.
