Leaded Glass Dome

Passing through the entry foyer and into the rotunda the eye is drawn up to our 18′ dia dome above. It is lit both naturally by a skylight, and artificially in the evening with energy efficient LED lights positioned for a soft even glow. The design and pattern inspiration is Victorian in nature reminiscent of lace work. Similar to lace work this dome has been crafted entirely by hand.

Texas Dome No.2

SolariumDesignGroup-2256

This is a 6.5’dia x 2′ ht. leaded glass dome and features a custom painted frame. The opalescent glass was specially ordered directly from Kokomo, and each jewel was sandblasted and hand painted on the reverse side in order to soften the appearance. A very subtle classic dome.

Even though it is officially spring, it was a snowy trip to Ottawa. Well worth it to see this dome installed.

Overall size 8’dia x 30″ ht.

Who has the messier desk? Can you guess which is Bill’s and which is mine? I don’t know but someone is living up to the messy creative stereo type… It also looks like my vase is missing flowers.

Sorting through the glut of photos from 35+ years of installations is overwhelming, but rewarding. Both of these are quite intricate and detailed. I hope you enjoy them.
