Fall Updates!

Thursday, November 3rd, 2016

Fall has proven to be a busy time over here at the studio! We hope you all enjoyed a spooky Halloween. Our work space easily takes on an extra air of eeriness at this time of year…

There’s surprises around every corner & cupboard door here at Solarium!

We have many projects on the go right now, so we will be updating more frequently. Be sure to check in next week as we have an incredible piece here that is near completion. We can’t wait to show it off!

Here’s a look at a recent glass panel install we completed for a client. Classic & refined.

Geometric Polygonal Globe Sphere Suspended from Skylight. Great art sculpture idea for house.

Shallow dome

Monday, July 11th, 2016

From this angle it is difficult to see, but this is in fact a dome, not a flat lens.

It has a shallow rise, due to the chandelier support behind it.

We can’t wait to see what it will look like when the moldings have been put up and the chandelier installed.

Preparing for a dome or flat lens. The contractor finishes the skylight shaft and provides a ledge or molding for the dome or lens to sit on. If a plaster molding is used, the dome or lens can be fastened to the walls of the shaft.

Leaded Glass Two Tier Flat Lens 5′ x 20′

Wednesday, November 27th, 2013

What a great combination of art and craftsmanship, our custom hand made leaded glass ceiling puts this already impressive plaster work over the top. The house is still under construction but once complete, a chandelier on each end will pass through our ceiling. Installed in Great Neck, Long Island, NY.

Tuesday, May 28th, 2013

Thanks to Dave Berry for coining the term “Fussnerian” to describe Bill’s design sensibility and sum up a man who has “written the book on the technology of bringing a dome off of the drawing board and into a residential setting”.

Watch the interview here.
