The panels are built by hand on curved forms to fit the curve of the dome.

I have always thought our domes were jewel like but this one with its sapphire touches is much bigger than any ring I’ve ever seen.
Reflecting back on 2012, it was a good year for the Solarium Design Group. We built our largest residential dome at 22′dia and 6′ht, it was roomy enough for the entire staff to enjoy lunch inside. We purchased our building, and celebrated by building a deck out front with the help of Mike our summer intern an Architecture student from Syracuse University. Continued to expand our reach into the International market, with a custom dome built and shipped to the UAE. You should also be able to see us on TV this year, we have done some window restoration work for Damon Bennetts’ pilot Damon Bennett Restoration Co. to air on HGTV Canada.
Looking ahead to 2013, we are busily working on another impressive commercial project in Montreal, a raised racetrack oval 38′ in length. As well as putting the finishing touches on a pair of domes headed for Texas at the end of the month.
2013 will be memorable.
This is the First Dome of a complimentary pair, Robin is cutting the glass on a light table (see below). The second dome is larger with a different design, although sharing the same glass types.
The pattern is deceptively simple, yet subtle differences in glass textures, and orientation of the grain make this a visually rich dome.
But first, to create a How-To-Install Video….. Here is a snippet of the panels being laid into the frame.
Oval Dome 12′ x 7′
The panels are still a bit gritty until they are polished :: Almost complete!
When assembling multiple panels, all of the glass pieces are cut by hand on top of the hand drawn pattern and next stacked one atop the other. (right side) Once all cut, the leading begins right on top of the pattern.
